NWERC 2026

You help us set up or break down the contest area.

A team gets a balloon for each solved problem. As they only have one computer, they may print code and debug on paper by hand.
You help get the balloons and prints to the teams.

There is an electric balloon pump and 90% of balloons are preprared beforehand ;)

You help us prepare (almost) all the balloons before the contest, and with the clean up after the practice session.

The Nwerc is a contest. You help us ensure that everyone sticks to the rules. 

You help us register the teams, take their keyboards and hand out badges and goodie bags.

You help us hand out packed lunch to the contestants. The food is already prepared beforehand. You help us make sure that everyone gets something to eat.

You take coats and bags and store them in the cloakroom.

During the contest only volunteeers are allowed to enter and leave the building. You will be seated in the Mensa Foyer and help ensure that this is the case. Shortly before the contest starts, you will also help guide the contestants to the upper floor of the Mensa.

Most of the time there will be little to do. Ask a friend to sign up for this shift together with you or take an interesting book with you :)

Verein zur Förderung des Kompetitiven Programmierens e.V. (in the following referred to to as "CPUlm") stores and processes personal data of volunteers for NWERC 2026 (in the following referred to as "contest") through the volunteer management system "helfertool". CPUlm processes this data to organize and carry out the contest, manage volunteer shifts, and provide necessary services to volunteers.

1. Personal Data Collection

CPUlm stores the following personal data of volunteers:

• Name
• Email address
• Phone number
• T-shirt size
• Dietary preferences and restrictions

CPUlm protects this data against unauthorized access. CPUlm deletes name, email address, and phone number of the volunteers after the end of the contest.

2. Usage of Personal Data

CPUlm uses personal data for the following purposes:

• Coordinating volunteer shifts and communicating shift assignments
• Sending emails with important contest information and volunteer instructions
• Contacting volunteers via email (or phone if deemed necessary) for coordination purposes, schedule changes, or urgent communications
• Ordering appropriately sized t-shirts for volunteers
• Planning and providing suitable meals (lunch, dinner) and snacks during volunteer shifts, accommodating dietary restrictions and preferences
• Managing volunteer check-in and attendance
• Displaying volunteer first names during the closing ceremony and on the contest website (https://2026.nwerc.eu)
• Preparing and distributing volunteer participation certificates via email or in person

3. Access to Personal Data

Personal data can be accessed by:

• Administrators of CPUlm's helfertool volunteer management system
• Authorized contest organizers responsible for volunteer coordination
• Designated staff members responsible for meal planning and t-shirt distribution
